Hi everyone! As you may know, I run an external blog for the show that, among other things, is mainly being used to layout and report new Season 17 information (there's not a lot right now, let's be real).

My main drive for creating this blog was two fold: (1) I wanted a place that would be a "one-stop shop" for people to be able to find a lot of the things I was constantly getting asks about (scripts, DVD extras, webisodes, stills, etc.) and (2) I wanted to be able to recreate the original Paddy's Pub Blog, which was a production blog existing during Seasons 4 through 9 to post updates, bts, new episode recaps, etc. for when the time comes (nigh!)

Obviously I modelled the look of my blog completely off of that OG Blog...

And now, in furtherance of honouring the OG Blog (or, leeching from it), I've gone ahead and bought the original domain:

If you have any page from the site bookmarked already (awe, thanks!) the links will automatically redirect to the "clean" URL, so this isn't, like, a necessary FYI, so to say, but I'm telling you all anyway. From now on, you can just type paddyspubblog.com and boom. you're there.

Also, because it's been a while since I've mentioned this, if anyone wants to contribute to the blog (in any way! posts, feedback, you want a link added, etc.) please let me know! I't's still under construction (mostly the Episode Guides tab) I'd love to be able to flesh out the Episode Guides tab, especially, and that really just kinda needs more than myself to bounce a conversation around and compile some lists.

And if you aren't familiar with the Paddy's Pub Blog just yet, the blog has a lot of fun stuff to check out! There now exist individual pages with info on all the upcoming episodes (plug a page full of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ info), links to tons of real episode scripts, a Random Episode generator, an episode sorter (head-to-head battles) and a few posts I, myself think are pretty good :)

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you

#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what #allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of #the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than #to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do #im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt #take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was #mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their #mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that #explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain #direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in #arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to #engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out #theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive #a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked #picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing #sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example #for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war #is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old #wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for #steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with #especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can #look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never #treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time #but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made #feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them #accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me #yapping #diary

winter and death

you’re known for your self-discipline and rigidity. although you may be perceived as cold and intimidating by those who don’t directly worship you, you’re actually quite fair and polite. your followers pray to you for a safe winter and peaceful death.

So, fun fact. I was once asked privately about what god that Enclave could have ended up worshiping if she had theoretically moved on from Vhaeraun during her Skulker era. And my sincere answer then (That I stand by now) was

" [... ] But of the main Toril gods pantheon? Kelemvor is on the table. I think she would have found a lot of comfort in the idea of death as a balance and as something that happens within a natural cycle, and it honestly could have been an otherwise comfortable path for her to take, and the one area that she actually is good As A Cleric (role of the class) is as someone concerned with and who has a lot of thoughts about death and the consequences of, even while under Vhaeraun. Her 5e sheet carries ceremony on her to give death rites to any drow she comes across, even if they "weren't one of theirs." Because you know. A dead drow is still a dead drow. Someone's gotta tend to the dead, even when Lolth treats them like toys. A dead lolth-sworn isn't something to celebrate, because it just means another soul she gets to keep [...] [...] Kelemvor could have poached her and fully gotten her separated from all of this. Lead her down a completely different path in life. Something about her biggest point of being able to approach and empathize with non-drow being the grief and understanding of death even within canon. I'm thinking about it. She would have self-actualized here. [...]"

So, needless to say. I actually really like this one for her. She's already skimming the themes of "kindness in death," and I think a core of her character is the empathy she has with the dead.

#Enclave #Her no Faeraun AU job was also mortician/embalmer #something in the funeral industry to stick with the theme #The other two answers were (Jokingly on both) The Raven Queen (another dead god but one that would have kept her in her grief.)#And uhh. Quorlinn. (Old School Kenku god.)#Anyway this is good. I like doing things revolving around death with her

Not Yharnam posting, but I need to tell everyone that Phantom in the Rain was fantastic and I have had my brain chemistry permanently rewired since watching it.

my brain can't make sense of it rn but please take my hand and ponder the differences between the family structure of the Shiraishi household compared to the rest of vbs.

#all 4 of them do majorly revolve around the dad when it comes to parental matters #an/toya get this more prominently as ken and harumichi are major side characters. but shinei has had an impact on both his children #(just moreso ena) and when the azusawa household gets mentioned it is usually in regards to papasawa #(shares photography hobby with kohane/main worrier when she starts out)#however very notable is that yuka is perhaps the most significant non-live2d side character in the game #as she has a significant role in an's card stories for lutf and (to my knowledge) has an impact in let's study hard #(which i think makes sense. she's a school teacher)#and on top of that is absolutely the main source of income for the shiraishis (especially now that ken isn't running weekend garage)#idk. i feel like it being an's family to seperate from the gender norms surrounding incomes and who does what #especially with regards to vivid street's running themes of community and being a different space (a queer space). definitely intentional #i got to this because i imagined drawing ken and yuka btw (old and young) idk where this came from.#shinei and harumichi are the “heads” of the households. and we get little on the azusawas but i'd assume it's the same there #idk. i think it's interesting. and important to consider when pondering how/why they act in certain ways #and because i'm normal. kohane's household being what would be considered “normal” is very much a cause for her beginning point #no resolve or dream because she is not from a family already in the arts. photography is only a hobby. it's very likely her parents are of a #very typical straight dynamic. which is why vivid street speaks to her in such a way #because she's never been in a place like it before #bagel's rambles

community college is so funny because half of the teachers are like "For this class you need to use lockdown browser for all quizzes and tests. You need to buy this 70 dollar textbook, and all papers turned in must be in APA format with a title page even if they're only 500 words long. I will not accept late assignments. Also you have a minimum of 4 assignments a week." and the other half are like "you don't need proctoring for the final exam I trust you. here's a download link to a pirated copy of the textbook. as long as your writing is coherent and demonstrates an understanding of the material I literally could not care less what format you use. I can't figure out how canvas works so I'm not giving you due dates, just make sure it's turned in before the grading period ends. your only weekly assignment is a forum post with a minimum of 100 words."

#my favorite teacher so far is still the film history professor I had in my first semester.#he was very old and didn't understand how canvas worked at all and sometimes had trouble opening a video file #but simultaneously he was tech literate enough to recommend we use firefox with an ad blocker #because whenever someone missed class and was like 'where do i go to find the movie' he'd be like 'use an ad blocker and google it'#he said the school made him stop emailing links to free movie sites because people would open them on chrome with no ad block #and there'd be borderline malware on them. like this guy gave me the impression he was like. a veteran movie pirate lol.#that class had barely any assignments. like there wasn't a final exam or anything.#he just wanted us to write a paragraph or so answering a few questions about the movies we watched. it was chill.#and i also learned a lot actually. like i didn't know what a nickelodeon was before then. or the Hays Code.#the movies were genuinely good. i never thought Id be that into old black and white movies or westerns for example but they actually slapped #some of them had really mature themes and i definitely started to understand the people on this website who are like #'if the only media you consume is children's media you should maybe branch out instead of calling steven universe problematic'#because a lot of the movies we watched depicted very 'problematic' things and were able to directly address them because they are for adults #(to clarify I didn't just like kids media before then. i just mean that it introduced me to some older stuff i didn't think I'd like)#(but i ended up liking a lot. it also made me realize that movies made today are kind of shit. which i also already knew)#(but it put it more into perspective because I have more to compare it to)#im rambling now. community college is pretty swag i enjoy it. and i do get along with the teachers who have crazy requirements too lol.

That is Cosmo (who I'm considering renaming to Cosme if not completely renaming to something else.) I lied about Wyatt being my only straight oc cause he's also transhet.... He is a prince and his parents are incredibly supportive of him in all aspects of his life EXCEPT they still want and expect him to enter a political marriage with a man to prevent a war, so he runs off into space.
